DIA INTERNACIONAL DAS MULHERES

Talvez não exista um único dia para celebrar a influência e importância das homenageadas deste feriado, mas com certeza o Dia Internacional das Mulheres figura entre as datas comemorativas mais importantes do ano. 

Celebrado anualmente no dia 8 de Março, esse marco traz toda uma história de conquistas de direitos, e também da visibilidade, igualdade de gênero, violência e abuso contra as mulheres.

O feriado teve início com o Sufrágio Feminino Universal, um movimento que começou na Nova Zelândia e foi influenciado pelas classes trabalhadoras da América do Norte e Europa durante o século XX.

A primeira celebração foi idealizada por movimentos políticos em Nova York, seguidos pela Alemanha e demais localidades da Europa. Isso levou as Organizações das Nações Unidas a proclamar a data um feriado mundial.

O Dia Internacional das Mulheres também é fortemente comemorado no Brasil, e nesta data as mulheres são agraciadas pelos maridos, namorados, amigos e familiares com presentes, flores, cartões e muito carinho. Afinal, foram as mulheres que nos deram o maior presente de todos: a vida!

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

 

Perhaps there isn’t just one day that shows the importance and influence of those honored on this holiday, yet surely the International Women’s Day is placed among the most important celebrations of the year.

Celebrated yearly, on March 8th, this landmark brings along a whole history of conquest of rights, visibility, gender equality, violence and harassment against women.

The idea of the holiday was inspired by the Universal Female Suffrage, a movement that had its roots in New Zealand, and was highly influenced by the North American and European working class during the 20th century.

The first celebration was held by political movements in New York, followed by Germany and different parts of Europe. That led the UNO (United Nation Organization) to declare the date a worldwide holiday.

International Women’s day is also strongly celebrated in Brazil, and it’s a day in which women are gifted by husbands, partners, friends and family members with presents, flowers, cards and loads of love. After all, women were the ones who gave us the most important gift of all: life!
