Aniversário de Brusque

Salve Brusque, imortal! Hoje, 4 de agosto, comemoramos o aniversário de nossa querida cidade, e a data não poderia passar em branco em nosso calendário. Vamos conhecer um pouco de sua história!

Do trabalho sem par dos imigrantes alemães, que chegaram à região sob a liderança do nobre austríaco Barão von Schneeburg em 4 de agosto de 1860, surgiu a Colônia Itajahy. Pouco a pouco as lavouras se estendem, e do chão brota a casa modesta, com novos povos de várias localidades da atual Alemanha chegando à região. 

O município foi instituído em 23 de março de 1881, ainda sob nome de São Luis Gonzaga. E seu nome, entre mil, é citado somente em 17 de janeiro de 1890, quando a cidade foi batizada “Brusque”, em homenagem ao presidente da província de Santa Catarina na época da fundação da colônia, Francisco Carlos de Araújo Brusque. É importante ressaltar que as comemorações do aniversário de Brusque (4 de agosto) não se referem à criação do município, mas sim à chegada dos colonos alemães.

Hail Brusque, immortal! Today, August 4th, we celebrate the anniversary of our beloved city, and we could not let this date pass unnoticed on our calendar. Let's see a little about its history!

From the relentless work of German immigrants, who arrived in the region under the leadership of the noble Austrian Baron von Schneeburg on August 4th, 1860, emerged the Colony of Itajahy. Bit by bit, the fields extended, and from the ground rose modest houses, as new people from various regions of present-day Germany arrived in the place.

The municipality was established on March 23rd, 1881, under the name of São Luis Gonzaga. And its name, among thousands, was mentioned only on January 17th, 1890, when the city was baptized as Brusque, in honor of the president of the province of Santa Catarina at the time of the colony's foundation, Francisco Carlos de Araújo Brusque. It’s important to emphasize that the celebrations of Brusque's anniversary (August 4th) do not refer to the creation of the municipality, but rather to the arrival of the German settlers.
